Located on the same property as the famous Fazenda de São Bento, which houses the waterfall of the same name, the Almécegas I and II waterfalls are two of the most sought-after destinations in Chapada dos Veadeiros. Almécegas I is the largest, with about 50m in height, and features three main attractions: a viewpoint for the waterfall, its pool where swimming is possible, and natural pools located at the top of the fall.

Route

After about 15 minutes walking in an easy start, the visitor finds an overlook of the magnificent Almécegas I, with its 50 meters fall. Up ahead, the path becomes a fork. One way leads to the bottom of the waterfall, and the other one, to its top. You need to go down if you want to swim in the biggest pool and enjoy the mighty fall from below; the climb back up can be tiring, but it's not harsh. At the top of the waterfall there are other natural pools good for swimming, being also possible to, carefully, observe Almécegas I from above. The visitor chooses which path they want to follow first.
