40 km from Lençóis, Mosquito Waterfall captivates with its beauty: the 70 m drop is located at the end of a canyon, amidst enormous rock walls. Its name comes from the mining activities carried out in Chapada Diamantina; specifically, small diamonds were found around the waterfall, nicknamed "mosquitos."

Route

The waterfall is located 40km away from Lençóis, and half of it is dirt road. The trail is 1,2km long and can be walked in less than half an hour. In the beginning there is an overlook where the fall and the canyon can be seen from above. After that, the visitor walks downwards until reaches the bottom of the canyon, surrounded by impressive walls. Then, you can walk towards the waterfall and enjoy it's magnificence from below. The way back is uphill and may be tiring, but not hard.
