Cachoeira do Sossego

Description

Sossego Waterfall is a beautiful attraction in Chapada Diamantina that can be accessed from the city of Lençóis. The trail is extensive and one of the most difficult in the region, so visitors are rewarded at the end with a view of the waterfall. Along the way, there are also lush viewpoints and other spots for swimming.

Route

The trail starts from the town of Lençóis and is 6km long, taking about 2 h 30 min to complete. Hiring a local guide is highly recommended, since the route is not well marked and it is not always easy to find the way. The final section of the trail is done over rocks along the riverbed, which can become slippery and dangerous in case of rain and/or rising water levels.
