Circuito O Torres del Paine
Description
The O Circuit is one of the most famous treks in the world and leads to various iconic landscapes of Chilean Patagonia. The circuit circles the Paine massif over a distance of approximately 130 km, typically completed in seven to nine days. The trail provides an immersive experience in the wild environments of Torres del Paine National Park, passing through snow-capped mountains, glaciers, lakes, rivers, forests, valleys, and wide open fields. Unlike the W Circuit, the O Circuit traverses more remote and less crowded areas of the park, offering a greater sense of isolation and connection with nature. Along the trail, hikers encounter various attractions, such as the Valley of Silence, Dickson Glacier, Los Perros Glacier, the challenging John Gardner Pass - the highest point of the circuit - and the impressive Grey Glacier, concluding the route by passing through the French Valley and the Mirador Base Torres, one of the postcards of Patagonia. The park offers a network of campsites and refuges distributed along the route. There are rustic campsites as well as areas where you can stay in more luxurious shelters starting from the intersection with the W Circuit. Additionally, there are food points in some sectors and water supply points. Reservations for all campsites are mandatory, as well as the payment of entrance fees. Weather conditions are extremely variable, with strong winds, rain, low temperatures, and sudden changes in weather, making the hike suitable for those with good physical preparation and experience in long-duration trekking.
