Tips

Crossing to MS by ferry is recommended, since crossings of the Paraná River carry a greater risk of collision with larger, faster vessels. Before doing this section, it is important to know whether the Paraná River and the Ivinhema River are at normal flood and low-water conditions.

Route

Departure from Porto São José can be by paddling or by ferry, since you will cross the Paraná River channel, from the Paraná state bank to the Mato Grosso do Sul bank. After that, the entire route follows the right bank of the Paraná River to the entrance of the Baia channel. From this point, you paddle 3 kilometers against the current until reaching the Corutuba River channel, already inside the state park. The Corutuba River channel is slow and will require more paddling effort. These factors may change depending on the various flood and low-water conditions of the Paraná and Ivinhema rivers.
