Trecho 08 - Piraquara x Estrada dos Teixeiras
Description
The Barata Aqueduct – a leisure area of the Piraquara substation of the park – blends with the treetops between the city and the unique rock formations of the Serra do Barata. Here, the main attractions of the section can be found, such as the impressive Pedra do Osso, a huge rock block that defies gravity. For the more experienced, a climb with the help of a steel cable leads to the highest point of the section: the top of the rock "Jesus Vem." From the Piraquara Lookout, a panoramic view reveals the entire Realengo neighborhood, with the Serra do Mendanha in the background. The hiker crosses the rural area near Teixeiras Road and walks through pastures amidst the power transmission towers. Take a break at the curious Pedra Rachada.

Tips
ATTENTION: We recommend accessing this section of the Transcarioca Trail through the Piraquara Center of the Pedra Branca State Park (entrance via Rua do Governo, s/n - Realengo, Rio de Janeiro - RJ - the Park Access Gate is located at the end of the street). For safety reasons, we recommend that this be done as a round trip from the Piraquara Center to Pedra Rachada, not exiting via Estrada dos Teixeiras.
