Trecho 18 - Primatas x Paineiras /Corcovado
Description
The diversity of attractions is the highlight of this section that connects the Jardim Botânico neighborhood to Paineiras, along a route filled with streams and waterfalls, such as the Primates waterfall. A visit to the Christ the Redeemer statue is a must. Some viewpoints offer a privileged view of the city from unusual angles, such as the one overlooking Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas with the sea in the background and Morro Dois Irmãos to the right. Take the opportunity to visit the new Visitor Center of Tijuca National Park, located in the old building of Hotel Paineiras, famous for serving as the training camp for the Brazilian national football team in the 1970s and 80s. It features the permanent exhibition “Protective Forest,” which occupies 1,200 m² and raises visitor awareness about the importance of environmental protection and the national parks of the country.
