Trilha do Balcão

Description

On this trail, it is possible to observe the ruins of an old farm located on the historic Salt Route, where, according to local legend, there were excavations by adventurers in search of buried and lost treasure. You can see the excavations made around the large palm trees and remnants of tea plantations (Camellia sinensis), an Eastern plant brought by Europeans for the production of different infusions. This species was widely spread in the Anhangabaú valley region in São Paulo and eventually gave its name to the viaduct located there: Viaduto do Chá.
