This trail covers a bit of the history of the old Vila de Itaúnas, buried by the sand of the dunes between the 1940s and the 1970s. It was used as an access route to the beach, up to the old house of “Seu Tamandaré”, still a surviving building from the days of old Itaúnas.

Route

It is the first trail in the park after the bridge, coming from the Vila de Itaúnas. The trail is full of restinga vegetation and passes through the old bed of the Rio Itaúnas, with a section that has simple wooden bridges in the floodplain area. There is a fork: to the left, you reach a dune and then go straight to the beach, and to the right, you continue to the house of Seu Tamandaré, the only building of the old village that withstood the action of the dunes.
