Description

A trail that includes passage through different facilities such as Picnic Area, Orchid House, Tea House, Scent Garden, Japanese Garden, Krahô Trail, and Lookout. The path is on a well-defined flat terrain, along trails and dirt roads within the JBB, although there is no continuity signage. Sections are exposed to the sun in open areas with various typical shrub species and shaded sections in dry forests and gallery forests.

Route

The route starts and ends on the Trilha Mater, the first trail of the Jardim Botânico de Brasília (JBB), paved and accessible for people with disabilities. It starts at the main entrance, crossing several types of Cerrado vegetation (dense, typical, and sparse), passing the visitor center and the amphitheater, and returning to the main entrance through a gallery formed by dense Cerrado trees. After passing the Japanese garden, you follow the route of the Trilha Ecológica. Within the Trilha Ecológica, the route of this trail is a tribute to the importance of the Krahô people (TO), and for this reason it passes through a short section of the Trilha Krahô; amid the native vegetation, you can see species introduced under the guidance of consultant Feliciano Krahô, hired by the project to design it. Local artists held a workshop at the JBB reinterpreting Krahô Indigenous iconography, which resulted in paintings on logs and tree trunks installed along the trail. Finally, you head toward the Centro de Excelência do Cerrado, with a beautiful lookout. From there, sections of the Trilha Tamanduá-Bandeira lead back to the entrance via the Trilha Mater.
