Trilha Farol da Lajinha

Route

The trail to the Farol da Lajinha starts at the totem sign located 100 m before the kiosks and the Ilha do Japonês. Although short, it requires a minimum level of fitness, as it has sections with significant elevation and steep climbs. The route passes through mangrove areas, native flora and fauna including endemic species such as the cacto-cabeça-branca (Pilosocereus ulei) and the restinga antwren (Formicivora littoralis), along the Canal do Itajuru, which connects the Lagoa de Araruama to the sea, and sequences of rare rock layers that record a history of more than two billion years of the South American continent and its correlation with West Africa. HOW TO GET THERE: ENTRANCE 1: Pedestrians -Rua dos Espadartes, s/nº (entrance on the left along the edge of the Canal do Itajuru) / Ogiva, Caminho Verde – Cabo Frio, RJ -You can get there by water taxi from the Passagem neighborhood and/or by the city bus line: 329 - Peró (via Caminho Verde). Remember to check with the boatman the time of the last water taxi back. -The path from the Park entrance to the totem sign that marks the start of the trails is flat and 800m long. ENTRANCE 2: Private Parking Lot Rua Cação, 477 Ogiva – Cabo Frio, RJ -Park in the section of the parking lot near the Parque Municipal da Boca da Barra and the Ilha do Japonês.
